My only symptom was a vibration in the drive train. It still drove fine. No torn boot. No audible clicking on tight corners.
This is pretty straight forward replacement. I did spend $400 on a new OEM axle.
28321AL010 is the factory part number. It lists for all 2015-2019 Subaru Outback and Legacy.
To change it:
Get the wheel up in the air, support on stands, take the wheel off. If you don't have an impact gun it might be easier to break the 32mm nut off the axle first. You'll have to take the center cap off your wheels first to do this.
With it in the air, disconnect the brake line from the strut, the end link (mine are not connected in the video) and mark the bottom of the strut to keep alignment.
Remove the two bolts from the strut and the knuckle will drop just enough to get the CV out.
With it out of the knuckle just give it a pull and it will come out of the transmission end.
Put your new axle in. Put it all back together with the alignment bolts back in the marked location.
And you're done! The video is a near real time it takes to change.
