Do Subaru dealers carry Genuine Subaru Oil in cases?

I want to buy a couple cases of Idemitsu oil for my next oil changes, and it seems it's mostly only available online. Genuine Subaru oil is made by Idemitsu though, so if dealers stock it, that would be a way to get it locally. I know some dealers only carry oil in bulk. For example I work for a Ford dealership and we only carry Motorcraft oil in bulk 55 gal drums for service use, they won't sell quarts or gallons to walk in customers. Does anyone know if Subaru dealers stock genuine Subaru oil?

When I bought my new 2014 Outback, the dealership threw in, in lieu of my first two free service appointments, 10 qts of genuine Subaru oil, two genuine Subaru oil filters, and oil plug crush washers so that I didn't have to drive 130 miles one way for them to do the work. I'd be surprised if any Subaru dealer you might go to wouldn't sell you all of the Subaru oil you want in qts, but in my experience, you can probably buy it cheaper through Amazon. I've been using Royal Purple full synthetic with excellent results, with 7500 mile oil change intervals, because I can buy it cheaper than Subaru oil. YMMV

Some do, some don't. You have to ask your local dealer.

My 2 closest Subaru dealers, 1 uses Castrol and the other Valvoline as their house oils, not Subaru branded.

I still run Castrol in ALL my cars, even my 85 Subaru BRAT. Do you think i am gonna go to dealer for Subaru oil for a good runnin 1985 er. heck that would waste my time going 2.8 hours roundtrip to the dealer. I dont have time for deaelrs.... The brat still runs good and always will on castrol

I'm sure it does vary dealer to dealer. I've been working for two different dealerships over the last 9 years and I still haven't figured it out. I worked for a Nissan dealer for several years and they didn't stock Nissan oil, but they could order it for you if you wanted. As for service, they filled everything with Mobil Super from 55 gal drums. The Ford dealership I work for actually does use real Motorcraft oil from 55 gal drums for service, but they don't stock nor will they order Motorcraft oil in gallons or quart cases for you if you wanted it. The Mazda dealer where I take my dad's CX-5 for it's free two years of maintenance uses Castrol Edge out of 55 gal drums for service, but they stock Mazda Moly oil in quarts and you can request it for an extra $15 or something, or they will sell it to you outright. The Mazda moly stuff is supposedly pretty good, I may give it a shot in the Subaru at some point.

Well as luck would have it I got a $20 rewards coupon in the mail today for Advance Auto so I went over there and bought 6 quarts of Castrol Edge 0w20. I used a Subaru oil filter, I bought a bunch pretty cheap a while back. I'll probably get some Subaru oil for the next change. Anyways I'm good for 6k miles now.
