Lane Departure Off warning light

I am experiencing a possible issue with lane departure warning which illuminates a yellow warning light in the gauge cluster

When I brought the vehicle home, I went into the car settings and changed lane departure from "All Functions" to "Lane Departure Function Only" to reduce one more way the car could beep at me. When I made this change it did not trigger the yellow "Off" warning light. Then one day the light appeared and now the only way to get the yellow "Off" warning light to disappear is to change the setting back to "All Functions".

My understanding is the menu setting "Lane Departure Function Only" should NOT turn off lane departure - which is what the yellow light is indicating.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Can anyone test to see if they get the same result?

Are you sure the yellow light isn't on because Eyesight cannot detect lane markings? Look at the lane marking indicators on either side of the car image. If they're dimmed, the car's not seeing the line(s). Mine dings and the yellow indicator comes on every time it loses both markings but I just ignore it for the most part.

On this subject, this feature is incredibly annoying. Its distracting to have random beeps go off or the car fight my steering inputs and I have to look down to see what upset the system. This is the same with the "Caution: Roads maybe icy" warning. Yes I know, I live in Canada!

I agree with Matt Farah that if you can't keep your car within a lane, maybe you should reconsider driving. That is the very minimal thing you should be able to do when driving. You can turn it off permanently but the warning light is way too bright IMO. I have resorted to putting a small piece of black paper tape over it.

Yes, I found the constant beeping to be incredibly annoying so I turned off the lane departure warning pretty quickly. I've tuned out the warning light, but it would be nice if it wasn't so bright when driving at night. I'm glad that this setting at least "sticks" once set... it would be even more annoying if I had to dive into menus to turn it off every time that I drive the car.

Am I missing something here? The only reason you guys are "constantly" hearing beeps or flashing lights would be if you were constantly departing your lane, right? I have mine set to beep only and the only time it beeps is when I change lanes without using my turn signal.

The system beeps every time that it can't confidently track the lines on both sides of the lane. My observation was that every time there is an intersecting road (for example the entrance of every neighborhood, business parking lot entrance, etc.) the system beeps to let you know that it can't "see" a line on that side of the road. On a road without frequent breaks in the lines such as interstates, it's not really an issue. For any driving on normal roads around town and on backroads, this results in VERY frequent beeps... constant is an exaggeration, but it is frequent enough to be very annoying.

Sometimes I like to give a wider berth to larger vehicles I'm passing (ie: semi trucks, graters, dump trucks etc) and will hug the shoulder line (if its safe to do so because I am aware of whats around me.) Or I might might move over to avoid an object/pothole in the middle of the road, but don't need to change lanes necessarily. The beeps are annoying as I then have to see if its telling me Ive been driving too long or lane keep warning or its to cold outside or I forgot my wife's birthday ;).

My car doesn't beep when it can't see the lines. It only beeps when I cross a lane. That kind of beep you're hearing is supposed to happen when using lane centering, not lane departure. I don't use lane centering.

Both the lane centering and lane departure beep when losing sight of the lines (see below). I can deal with the lane centering beeps because that function is only active when I choose to use it by pressing the button on the steering wheel. Lane departure beeps every bleeping time unless it is disabled through the Eyesight settings menu.

Thanks for setting me straight. I wonder why mine doesn't beep when there are no lane markings (like at an intersection)?

Right now with the snow and ice that damn system always thinks there is lines crossed everywhere, extremely annoying. I had it set to warning noise only but turned it completely off now.
I'm going to see if I can pull a fuse to get rid of the dash warning light.
As others have said it's way too big and bright.

Right? If you are the second car to travel down an unplowed road, the eyesight system thinks the first vehicle’s tracks are road lines and locks on to them.

I decided to withhold further comment on this thread until I had the opportunity to test the lane departure function again while on the road (since I have had it turned off for thousands of miles since it was just annoying me). I turned lane departure fully on and ran some errands at lunch today. I made sure that lane centering WAS NOT turned on and did not use cruise control, just to rule out other "beeps" that could occur. I observed that lane departure was indeed engaged and tracking as seen by the lane lines shown next to the vehicle on the information screen between the tach and speedometer.
On several occasions, there was a dual beep which prompted me to look at the info screen where I saw an OFF message below a lane departure icon to indicate that the system had automatically disabled itself along with the lane lines next to the vehicle on the info screen disappearing. On these occasions that lane departure automatically disabled, I observed that there were obvious breaks in the lines in the lanes in the road that would have logically made Eyesight unable to reliably track the lanes. So these beeps were 100% NOT caused by an actual lane departure, but instead were caused by the system temporarily automatically disabling itself exactly as outlined in the page from the owner's manual that I posted earlier in this thread. The system does seem to have some level of tolerance in that a very brief break in the line on one side of the road does not always cause it to self cancel.
For those that claim that their lane departure system has "never" beeped at them unless they departed the lane, there must be one of three things happening:
1. You drive only on roads with very clearly marked lanes at all times so the system never disables automatically.
2. Your system does automatically disable on occasion and you either haven't noticed or you attributed the beeps to something else.
3. Your car is special and has software logic that does not work as outlined in the owner's manual.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't realize I already said essentially the same thing above.

If you have lane departure set to "warn only" It will not beep when the lines disappear. It will only beep when you cross a visible line. It will not do any steering correction in this setting, but it will warn you to correct it yourself. You just don't get the "lose of lane" beeping when lines aren't visible. This is the setting that I prefer when not on a freeway.

I'm not sure if you are replying to me or jzsubaru since you didn't quote anybody, but I'll provide some more information to hopefully clear up some confusion. The yellow OFF warning light that is found within the tachometer stays illuminated at all times if you have lane departure set to either the "off" setting or the "lane departure prevention function only" setting... this is what the OP was referring to and questioning in post #1.
There is a separate "OFF" warning that pops up in the information display accompanied by two beeps when the lane departure function is temporarily automatically cancelled (this is what I was referring to in my last post)... see the picture below for reference.

Sorry, I meant the long post from the OP about turning it back on after all this time. Not sure if I was short sighted because I clicked on an email link or whether I'm just not focused. I am not looking for sympathy, but my older brother and his wife are in ICU with Covid and he might not make it. I'm trying to distract myself, but I think I will just go and do something less brain intensive, like watching TV.
