Light bar for OEM roof rail and external power supply?

I dont know if a turnkey solution exists for Gen5. If possible I'm looking for a light bar solution to attach temporarily to roof rails and run off of external power.

Looking for temporary solution that I I can bolt on and take off to roof rails.

Hoping for solution that will run off of external power source.

Thanks a ton for any thoughts and feedback.

everything could go in / on a aftermarket roof basket or rack, instead of the factory cross bars.

I had though about this too. I think an easy mounting solution is to pick up a set of the factory roof bar clamps for attaching other cargo accessories. An LED light bar should attach to that easily.

My idea for power was to use flat wire and drop it down the back of the sunroof to a 12V power plug. It will proably not be 100% watertight if it rains.

I think it would be best to think of using the car's power supply to make enough light like a traditional light bar,.... but making it quick disconnect when not in use.

I would think there are existing solutions that are magnetic, or clamp, or bolt on. fancy painters masking tape the wires down.
So as to put it on in 15 minutes and then be able to take it all off and park it in 10 minutes.

But I think running a off road light without the car battery, will only last a few minutes,...when you really want it or need it.

From my days of adventure racing, you could look into this company. They can be secured to almost anything and a wide range of lumens. Your challenge will be brightness, run time, and access to power them off/on. Much easier when the switch was on my handlebars.

From past experience with light bars on Jeep roofs, I found that light tended to reflect off the hood and distort your night vision on trails. For me, light bars for off road are better placed below the hood line and give you better trail visibility.

Excellent point. Are these light bars better than the early headache bars? As in, do the LEDs have a defining pattern? Or, are they just super bright?

LP adventure has some mounting kits that fit underneath the hood and and sit right where the hood meets the windshield.
i constantly change out my roofbox w a roof basket etc so didnt want to go w anything permanent up top
unfortunately, doesnt run off external power but just thought id throw that option out at you too.

The light bar should be bolted securely to the roof rails to slow down theft and more importantly not create a hazard on the road. Best to have switched & fused12V power for the light bar. I’ve installed relay switch boxes in the engine compartment to safely power auxiliary lights and other 12V accessories.

I have an amber warning light attached the rear rail, and an LED light bar in front of the front rail, attached to the car using magnets. So far its stayed put at highway speeds and an 81 mph wind gust last year. Both hard wired to a dedicated fuse panel that powers all my extra junk like 2 way radio, scanner, weather sensors and extra fog lights.

What's that little bar and light setup on the front? That looks like a modular option. Thanks again.

I think most of the off road world has gone to low light bars and the ditch lights at the top corners of the hood near the windshield. A friend of mine has a TRD Pro 4 Runner with low light, ditch lights, and a few extra on top but rarely used the top ones unless he is setting up camp. (Then he is working something near daylight)
