Anyone ever use the Motive power bleeder when replacing brake fluid? I picked one up over the summer and have only used it on the wife's 2010 Outback. Worked great but it was messy as all **** trying to remove the cap from the MC. Letting the pressure out first was sucking the fluid back into the Motive so I pumped it back up. Then removing the cap oozed fluid everywhere which was a pain to clean up.

For those that have used it - what's the trick for removing the cap when you're finished bleeding the brakes?

Hey, are you guys using the ford cap or the universal adapter? If you're using the ford cap, how hard is it to put on? As for making a mess, I think when you're done bleeding, you can tilt the motive tank on an angle until the suction tube inside is not immersed in the fluid anymore. Then crack the bleed valve on the front driver's caliper and bleed until the fluid level in the reservoir is a the max level. This should eliminate a lot of the excess fluid in the reservoir so when you release the pressure and twist off the cap, it won't overflow out.

Great idea !!

NOW that sounds like a great idea!! does the ford cap screw right on without needing any sort of clamp? If so is there only 1 type of cap for Ford?

I ve used mine dozens of times on other cars and my trick is that I use the pressure bottle with NO fluid. I only use it to pressure up the system. What you have to do is every other wheel or so re fill the resevior and do not let it go below the low line or you will introduce air. It s much less messy IMO and doesn t take long to re fill in between wheels. Also there is no clean up in the bottle afterwards either.

I think the ford cap has 3 prongs that require a 1/4 turn twist just like the subarus. I hear that the cap is really tight and requires you to push and then turn. Can someone verify that the motive ford cap works with subarus. I'm thinking of buying a motive ford cap for my home made pressure bleeder. Right now, I'm using a ford cap from the doorman/help rack at the auto parts store. It works but required some gasket sealant and to shave the prongs a bit.
