the awesome little crosstrek is killing it.

With these numbers, the outback won’t make the sales numbers of the Gen5… even with an additional, longer, 6th year of sales

Much of the Gen 5's model years didn't have to contend with both the Forester and Crosstrek being so popular and drawing sales away.
perhaps. The Gen5 outback was sold at the right time for the market - it was a huge success. It wasn't just competing with the forester and the crosstrek. Sure, those sales might take away from the model, but there was something else going on too.

when the 2015 came out - I had pre-ordered a 3.6 limited, and couldn't pick it up for a few weeks. It was the first one on the lot I believe, so it was in their showroom. My sales person said that he had a bunch of high offers on it - above MSRP. Wish those had gotten to me - I would have sold that thing in a heartbeat at that price, and turned around and just ordered another.

for whatever reason, the 2015-2017 gen5 outbacks were in really high demand. It was weird. So much so, I traded in on a 2017, because I was able to get a very high trade in, and the difference was much less than a lease for those two years. The 2015 models had a bit of wind noise, and a few other things that were worked out by the 2016-2017 year. Also, the 2015 had minor hail damage, and even with that, the trade in was really favorable.

it was crazy.

Is he still updating? It really was a great resource but some of it is out of date. He seems to have not updated frequently since the pandemic.
no - his updates for the 2019 outback weren't as thorough as the 2018.... and then after that, was only updating the main landing page which is just announcements about lending rates.
