I have a dash cam on the passenger side of the windshield, so I assume putting the EZ Pass on the mirrored location (left side) would work just the same.
This will work as long as you don't need it desire a remote start.

The front edge of the sunroof glass sounds great.

FWIW: here's the 2019 EyeSight Quick Start Manual:
https://www.subarunet.com/stis/doc/ownerManual/MSA5B1914A_STIS_2ndPrint.pdf

Page 9 for the Outback clearly shows the exclusion zone for mounting (grey area). You have approx up to 14 inches from the left or right edges of the windshield to situate your pass.

It's recommended to locate your ezpass below the tinting. Perhaps some tinting on some glass is metallic, so this is a blanket statement so everyone is covered.

We bought a used 2016 Outback in April, was concerned about where to mount transponder, usually left it on the dash. Last Sunday we took a trip to TN, went through two tolls and completely forgot the transponder was in the closed compartment under the temperature controls. I was worried and checked my Ipass account and both tolls were accounted for and paid. Problem solved for me.

I have since moved the EZ pass to the moon roof glass.

No adverse effects.

The cover doesn't interfere and I can still fully retract it.

Since I see this topic come up a lot I figured I'd make a how to guide.

Subaru specifically says not to mount anything near the cameras on models equipped with Eyesight.

But the EZ Pass says mount it directly where Subaru says not to.

What's the owner to do?

The easiest solution that I found that worked for me is to put it on the top right of the windshield.

This is out of the way of the Eyesight Cameras and still works with the toll check points.
Thank you! That was helpful!

What worries me about planning it there is the manufacturer specifically says not to put it there.

It might be a better safe than sorry thing for them.

Thanks for the feedback at least.
Be careful with this! I placed mine exactly as in this photo, and it worked flawlessly for a few weeks... and then one particularly dark & rainy night the reflection actually kicked on the check engine light! All these electronic systems are pretty closely connected it seems. Engine is totally fine, code was apparently specifically for the eyesight system. Luckily the dealership didn't charge me for the assessment, but still a very annoying waste of time. They recommended putting it on the upper passenger side, as indicated by others in this thread.

Where did you have yours?

Hoping the same is true for Sunpass in Florida! Anyone have any experience with that for a 2018 Subaru Outback? I'm just going to purchase the mini-transponder which is a little sticker (see below). Looks similar to yours but would like confirmation if anyone in Florida is using the Sunpass mini-transponder. TIA!
I am in this exact situation. 2018 Subaru Outback with eyesight with a mini sun pass transponder. Where did you end up placing yours?

Thanks for all the recommendations, Subie Fam. Thinking out of the box, I wonder if the E-ZPass would work placed inside the glasses pull-down between the map lights. I realize there's some metal of the roof between the E-ZPass and the toll reader, but since they send it to you in that silver bag, maybe it's sensitive enough to read in that location. Thoughts? Feel free to tell me the idea is nuts.

Just reading this and wondering why the owner's manual seems so picky about objects on the outer areas at the top. You would think that any spot that gets covered by the visor would be fair game, no? I mean does Eyesight quit working if you drop your visor? I think not, so what's up with that?

At least on the left I believe that's where the antenna for the remote start goes. I'm not sure about the right.

When needed on a trip, I clip mine to the sun visor. When needed I lower the sun visor.

Granted I've only had an eyesight car for a week, but I put mine in the upper left of the windshield. Hadn't considered pass side, since I like to have it within reach when driving if needed.

Another helpful thing: Make sure your license plate number is up to date on your ezpass account. If you go through a toll and it doesn't register the transponder, they will charge the account that your plate number linked to it. If the plate is not linked then you get the ticker mailed to you. At my job the cars do not have ezpass, and I usually forget to bring mine. When I do, I blow the tolls, add the work car plate number to my account for a few days, then remove it once the tolls have posted.

I was wondering the same thing - has anyone tried this?

Thanks

Has anyone else tried putting a SunPass mini sticker on the moon roof glass? That would be my choice if it works.
The EZ pass folks for the Souther Connector in Greenville SC told me today I could place the pass sticker on the inside of the moon roof. They said they get really good results from the moon roof location.

Any issue with it getting too hot on the moon roof glass, especially if the car is parked in the sun and you have the slider closed?

Edit: I suppose it gets just as hot on the front windshield in between the glass and a sun shade.
