What was your top speed in which Outback?

Atlanta and Georgia are rather fast, and always have been.

Around here it's not uncommon to be doing 75-80MPH on the highways and, maybe, if I'm passing, trying to get out of the way, merging, or not paying attention to my speed, I'll get up to 90MPH. It's never felt lofty or out of control.

About 90-95 mph for any sustained period.

This was right after we got with about 100 miles on odo. Did take it easy on brakes as much as possible.

Travelling thru NY, PA, WV, VA, GA, etc. so had some nice mountainous terrains.

Did try to adjust speed when going down the hills... what is best technique so driving with control and not constantly pressing on brakes [driving down hilly terrain]?

Scott, your never stated your top speed...
Still new to it but I caught myself going 90 and still being passed on the Texas highways. I don't tend to set the pace and on the few road trips I have been on have just set the cruise and settled in behind someone who hung around the speed limit. Plenty of wide open roads for cops with laser speed guns or cops in the air so driving sensibly is appealing.
There are a number of race tracks (and salt flats) that will let the public drive on them so top speeds can be discovered legally. TX and OK have roads that are legally 80mph. Doesn't Wyoming still have some public highways with out speed limits?

The question was truly that, what is the top speed. On ramps and passing speeds do come into play where you could exceed the legal speed limit. The question is not to encourage speeders or to get people to blow up their engines

Also, there are now laws making it illegal to hinder traffic in the left lanes, seen in TX and OK so far. So you camp in the left lane at the legal speed limit and someone is behind you, then YOU are the one the cops pull over, not the sports car that blows past you at 80. This law came about due to vigilante drivers deciding to "enforce" the speed limit by camping in the left lane. I do find is annoying when truckers decide to block the road "passing" each other.

Easy to do out in the central plains. The roads are so wide open and straight you could be doing 75 and it feels like 30. So 90 does not feel fast until you glance at the speedo. Cruise control has helped me with that and I just go thru the mental anguish of how slow it feels to be doing the speed limit.

His car has a cold air intake. That might account for something at 6k rpm.

I'd read about the 'shift' points that are programmed into the CVT. They are very pronounced in that vid. I would have thought the programming would revert to the optimum method of CVT acceleration for a WOT case.

In New England with 65 mph speed limits, I generally try to keep it at speed limit + 9 mph on the adaptive cruise control. I'll move with traffic at 80. I don't think I've ever been to 90 in this car. Maybe for a minute or two before looking at the speedometer and slowing down. I've driven 200 kph+ on the Autobon many times. I don't need to take the risk of an expensive ticket, insurance surcharges, and a court date playing "how fast will my appliance car go?" games.

SW41, the truckers are not trying to block the road. You have one guy who can only muster 3 mph faster than the other truck passing. They do not have the ability to zoom by as you and I. They hate sitting behind another truck going 200 rpm slower than they want to go.

Only time I tried to top mine out it went all crazy at 142 MPH, thought I had blown the engine up!! Next thought was is the Yakama Skybox Pro 16 still attached?? It was and I must say the speed limiter is very effective.
