Subaru Tuning that affects CVT Operations & Performance by Xtreme Racing Tuning (XRT)
XRT have continue to master the operations and performance of the CVT through tuning and customer feedback and based on the results, were are offering that edge in tuning CVT models like what we did to the 5EAT and the 4EAT.

Generally, the following are expected when tuned (The Transmission Computer is not tuned):

  • Quicker shifting
  • Firmer shifting
  • Appropriate gear selection for less labouring or load on the engine
  • Less ping/knocking due to the transmission wanting to be in high gear all the time.
  • Less pedal moving to make the transmission shifting
  • Better fuel mileage
  • Easy over-taking and maneuvering due to quicker acceleration due to the above points.

XRT Offers additional stages for CVT tuning.

  • Stage 1 allows the transmission to shift and operate more efficiently
  • Stage 2 offers greater shifting and operations. This is the mode many requires if you want to have full control when the transmission shift for hill climbing, racing, over-taking etc.
  • Stage 3 offers increase response and less throttle lag. Direct throttle control. Now you maybe able to spin those tires on moving off or get that maximum torque to the ground.

That maybe true, but really no need. CVT owners know the car performance. I will ask but if someone who can do it, post it up.

Don't you have one?

What's the pricing on this?
How is the performance under typical driving conditions? My biggest gripe right now is the stutter after the fake shifts.
Can the fake shift points be eliminated all together?

Can you provide some more detail on this?

You will just use the ecuflash to reload the stock tune that came with the car.

Right now I am looking at a 2.5. All I would say woow. There are so many maps for the CVT. Some may not be used, but more for the 2.5i than for the 3.6 and WRX. I literally have to take a break.

Its ver much possible to eliminate. I have to wait until I finish the definition on the CVT to see.

The videos above are mine. I really don't see a reason to put up a stock tune video when everyone is driving around on stock already. I suppose a side by side may be useful, but ..... watch the video on your phone just before you do a WOT run and you can get the same thing.

I've spent 18 hours in the last two nights driving hundreds of miles, working with XRT on this. So..... going out and driving on a stock rom to show those driving around on stock roms is not high on my things to do list at this moment. lol. I hope you understand.

I will try to get to it though.

The vids are for the 3.6.

I am attempting work on the 2.5i. I am creating the definition for me.to work on. But the many dbw maps is enormous. I took a break from it.

CVTs were actually explored as a potential option in Formula 1. While they are primarily used for efficiency gains in street cars, they can also be programmed to maintain optimal power during extreme acceleration/deceleration without the unsettling forces of gear changes. Apparently R&D proved too expensive, but I would've loved to hear the sound of those cars with high performance CVTs in them.

Contact Ed directly(email in his sig)...and hash it out. There are are other CVT off road, even 3.6 that are in the mix. Your input would be about as unusal as me. Most of The XRT stock is H6 5EAT...but he is a Subi Sensei.

Disclamer, he is taking tonight off...but come 6am EST Ed is on the clock. Contact him...have your ducks in a row...and XRT go.

Right...And I would not expect free tuning.

I don't make deals for XRT...but I would expect an equitable exchange...I can testify that Ed works 3x past what he charges.

Harvey is the best local Front Range Tuner....$1200 if you deliver a healthy canvas...if not you pay his guys 1st to make it right...

I get that...it makes sense...But XRT massages that exchange...I am not knocking Harvey one bit...just trying to lend perspective. And only XRT is cracking this new Gen CVT nut

Happy New Year everyone!

With that comes with a little more smile. Further tuning have resulted in lower times on launching and 1/4 mile :) :) :)

I know what you mean. But each they own. Thats like yesterday. My friend looking to buy a fairly clean 2012 jdm sti. He like it. I am so a custom to 450whp avg sti's, I didn't know how to reply to him when he asked me what I think. Just being honest, I told him, it's feels good like any sti, but just some work to be done chassis. Etc etc.

Dear Everyone:

Please note the development on the 2015+ H6 3.6 CVT has come to an end. it was a great success with wonderful reviews as stated here - Subaru CVT Tuning by Xtreme Racing Tuning (XRT)

See the below extract posted on LGT:

Update:

XRT has proved its ability in tuning the 6 Gen 3.6, especially the CVT. This model is completed.

In as little as a few weeks, we have offered a vast improvement to what is out there and again, thanks to those who have partake.

There are no further development in the operations of the CVT at this time for the H6 3.6 CVT. We now have two (2) stages of operations for that model. Sport driving and Sports Sharp driving. Customers can received a rom for which ever operation or even both.

We have reach the following objectives in regards to the H6 3.6 CVT. That is quick take off, zero lag and rpm/shifting controlled by the pedal. In addition to the enhancing the CVT operations, we have also enhanced the power delivery of the engine and also improving mpg.

Thank you.

Please note I am working on the 2.5i and able to offer CVT and general ECU tuning, except for the ignition. So if a customer needs a 2.5i tune, he will get full support for the CVT and fuel tuning.

At the present moment for introductory, I am offer a discount for the 2015+ CVT until the end of the month January.

I'm going to start working with XRT on my OB. Post Xmas present to myself. Some tweaks should be fun. Will report back when it's all done.

@2016OutbackNJ to clarify...you used the AP to flash the tunes. They were custom tunes tho correct? Requiring logging and re-flashes...just though the AP as a delivery device.

Correct?

I didn't think you were talking about flashing a COBB tune via the AP.

If I am correct on the above...then logging, yes...is where you start to engage the tuning process. 000s and 111s start to meld with your right foot. The patina in the steering wheel feels just right...and your car starts to back up up.
XRT is a direct flash tuner...

See here...

RomRaider - Open Source ECU Tools | Documentation / RomRaider FAQ

This is the best jumping off point...

The AP market has many, many folks writing tunes to be delivered via AP. But they support the WRX/LGT/OBXT platforms ONLY. XRT can tune anything with a Subaru brain...And tune to the individual car.

From what I understand AP is fairly limited on what it can change. Cobb does this on purpose. I used BrenTuning as they were highly recommended and did a great job. The difference between Cobb's stock tune vs a cutom tune is pretty big. I gained a lot of power and boost was drastically more smooth as well as improved throttle response and overall made that 2.0 DIT feel so much better then factory. I think I gained 27 horsepower and 36 torque. It was significant.

Anyway, would love to see some actual numbers from the 3.6 on a 93 octane tune. I sold my accessport when I sold the WRX. If I had to guess I would think 5 - 15 HP / TQ could be had.

XRT has it's own site. Numbers and torque curves....virtual dynos and whatnot are all posted there. Ed often provides links when something definitive or significant is realized.

Nobody really cares about another 295HP 2.5T...right? Well XRT doesn't have many of them. I am one of very few turbos. Everyone is H6...and decent split of 3.0 and 3.6, we mostly 5EAT...but CVT is the future.

I get very little traction with WRX folks and tuners, I just can't hang. I may have a similar power plant...but I am a shaggin wagon. I get no cred with the rally pig punks. I have found a proper home at XRT. I also want to stress for those who are "all about the numbers". There are gains...there are numbers...and then.... there is drivabilty, livability and reliability....

XRT keeps all 3 in check.

Maybe I should post, but it would be fair since the car now has an exhaust system. Let me know so I can, but its not a fair comparison.
